Indications
- Treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail
- Treatment of Tinea Capitis
- Fungal infection of the skin
- Treatment of tinea infections of the skin
- Treatment of pityriasis (tinea) versicolor
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of biosynthesis of Ergosterol
- Fungicidal against Tricophyton Mentagrophyte and Trichophyton Rubrum
Dosage & Administration
- Terbinafine 250 mg (one tablet), once daily for 6 weeks for fingernail onychomycosis
- Terbinafine 250 mg (one tablet), once daily for 12 weeks for toenail onychomycosis
- Different dosage based on body weight for Terbinafine granules
- Application of Terbinafine cream once or twice daily
- Application of Terbinafine 1% Spray once or twice daily
Interaction
- Inhibitor of the CYP450 2D6 isozyme
- Effects on drug classes like tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, beta-blockers, antiarrhythmics class 1C, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors Type B
Contraindications
- Contra-indicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to terbinafine

Overdose Effects
- Clinical experience limited
- Doses up to 5 gm taken without serious adverse reactions
- Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, headache
