Description
- Artemether and Lumefantrine tablets are indicated for the treatment of acute, uncomplicated malaria infections due to Plasmodium falciparum or mixed infections including P. falciparum. It is also recommended for malaria infections acquired in areas where parasites may be resistant to other antimalarials.

- Contains a fixed ratio of 1:6 parts of Artemether and Lumefantrine respectively
Indications
- Treatment and standby emergency treatment of adults, children, and infants with acute, uncomplicated malaria infections
Pharmacology
- Artemether and Lumefantrine act in the food vacuoles of malarial parasites, interfering with the conversion of haemoglobin breakdown products and inhibiting nucleic acid-protein synthesis within the parasites.
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage is based on patient weight, with recommended 3-day treatment schedules for adults and children, to be taken with high-fat food or drinks

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredients, severe malaria, first trimester of pregnancy, family history of QTc interval prolongation, known electrolyte imbalances, concomitant use of CYP2D6-metabolized drugs
Side Effects
- Generally well tolerated, with potential adverse effects including hypersensitivity, headache, dizziness, sleep disorders, gastrointestinal symptoms, musculoskeletal issues, and fatigue
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation, especially in the first trimester. Breastfeeding should be avoided due to long elimination half-life of Lumefantrine
Precautions & Warnings
- Not indicated for prophylaxis, treatment of cerebral malaria, or severe manifestations of severe malaria

- Supportive therapy and monitoring of ECG and blood potassium levels
