Description
- Indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail due to dermatophytes
- Effective against Tinea Capitis, Tinea Pedis, Tinea Corporis, cutaneous candidiasis, and Pityriasis Versicolor
- Inhibits biosynthesis of Ergosterol via inhibition of Squalene Epoxidase enzyme
- Tablet dosage for fingernail onychomycosis: 250 mg once daily for 6 weeks
- Cream application for Tinea Corporis, Cruris: 1 to 2 weeks
- Granules dosage based on body weight for up to 6 weeks
- Interacts with CYP450 2D6-metabolized drugs
- Contraindicated in individuals hypersensitive to terbinafine
- Common side effects include gastrointestinal symptoms, liver test abnormalities, rashes, and taste disturbances
- Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation
- Rare cases of liver failure reported
- No established safety and efficacy in pediatric patients
