Indications

  • Treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail
  • Tinea Capitis
  • Fungal infection of the skin
  • Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor

Pharmacology

  • Inhibition of Ergosterol biosynthesis
  • Fungal cell death
  • Activity against Tricophyton Mentagrophyte
  • Activity against Trichophyton Rubrum

Dosage & Administration

  • Fingernail onychomycosis: 250 mg tablet once daily for 6 weeks
  • Toenail onychomycosis: 250 mg tablet once daily for 12 weeks
  • Body Weight: <25 kg: 125 mg/day granules up to 6 weeks
  • Body Weight: 25-35 kg: 187.5 mg/day granules up to 6 weeks
  • Body Weight: >35 kg: 250 mg/day granules up to 6 weeks
  • Cream application duration for various conditions

Interaction

  • Inhibition of CYP450 2D6 isozyme
  • Require careful monitoring with co-administered drugs
  • Potential reduction in dose of 2D6-metabolized drug

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to terbinafine
