Indications

Treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail, Tinea Capitis, Fungal infections of the skin, Yeast infections, Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor

Pharmacology

Inhibits biosynthesis of Ergosterol, resulting in fungal cell death; active against Tricophyton Mentagrophyte, Trichophyton Rubrum

DosageAdministration

Fingernail onychomycosis: 250mg, once daily for 6 weeks
Toenail onychomycosis: 250mg, once daily for 12 weeks
Body Weight <25 kg: 125 mg/day up to 6 weeks
Body Weight 25-35 kg: 187.5 mg/day up to 6 weeks
Body Weight >35 kg: 250 mg/day up to 6 weeks
Cream: applied once or twice daily for 1-2 weeks depending on the type of infection
1% Spray: applied once or twice daily for 1-2 weeks depending on the type of infection

Interaction

Inhibitor of the CYP450 2D6 isozyme, may require careful monitoring and reduction in dose of certain drugs
