Indications
- Treatment of Onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail
- Treatment of Tinea Capitis
- Treatment of fungal infections of the skin caused by Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton
- Treatment of yeast infections of the skin caused by Candida
- Treatment of Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of biosynthesis of Ergosterol
- Fungicidal effect against Tricophyton Mentagrophyte
- Increased membrane permeability
- Inhibition of Squalene Epoxidase enzyme
Dosage & Administration
- 250 mg Terbinafine tablet, once daily for 6 weeks for fingernail onychomycosis
- 125-250 mg Terbinafine granules daily for 6 weeks
- Application of Terbinafine cream once or twice daily for 1-2 weeks depending on the type of infection
- Application of Terbinafine 1% Spray once or twice daily for 1 week depending on the indication
Interaction
- Inhibition of the CYP450 2D6 isozyme
- Potential interaction with tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, beta-blockers
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to terbinafine
