Indications
- Prevention of post-operative infections due to anaerobic bacteria

Pharmacology
- Belongs to imidazole class of antibacterial drug
- Therapeutically classified as an antiprotozoal agent
- 5-nitro group reduced by anaerobes metabolically
- Interacts with DNA and provides bactericidal action

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to Metronidazole or other Nitroimidazole derivatives
