Pharmacology
Member of the imidazole class of antibacterial drug, classified therapeutically as an antiprotozoal agent, the 5-nitro group is reduced by anaerobes metabolically, interacts with DNA, and gives bactericidal action.

Interaction
- Interactions with disulfiram, alcohol, oral anticoagulant therapy, lithium, cyclosporin, phenytoin or phenobarbital, 5-fluorouracil, and busulfan.
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Metronidazole or other Nitroimidazole derivatives.
