Pharmacology
- Metronidazole belongs to the imidazole class of antibacterial drugs
- Classified therapeutically as an antiprotozoal agent
- The reduced form of Metronidazole interacts with DNA and exerts bactericidal action
Recommended Dosage
- Varies based on condition and age
- Dosage specified for trichomoniasis, intestinal amoebiasis, extra-intestinal & asymptomatic amoebiasis, giardiasis, acute ulcerative gingivitis, bacterial vaginosis, leg ulcers and pressure sores, anaerobic infections, and surgical prophylaxis
