Pharmacology
Metronidazole is a member of the imidazole class of antibacterial drugs and is classified therapeutically as an antiprotozoal agent. The 5-nitro group of Metronidazole is reduced by anaerobes metabolically, which interacts with DNA, resulting in bactericidal action.
