Indications

Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration

Interaction
- May increase phenytoin toxicity
- Increases ivermectin bioavailability
- Decreases albendazole bioavailability
- Alcohol causes disulfiram-like reaction
Contraindications
- No absolute contra-indication to Levamisole use
Side Effects
- Infrequent and mild
- Include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, headache
- Encephalopathy-like syndrome reported in some patients after treatment

- Animal studies show no teratogenic effects
- Benefits should be weighed against possible dangers during pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- No evidence of sedation production
- Mild and transient giddiness as infrequent side-effect
- No precautions for ability to drive or operate machinery
- Transient fever may occur in case of concurrent microfilaraemia
Overdose Effects
- Counter possible anticholinesterase activity with atropine
- Control blood pressure and respiration
- Avoid sedatives
