• Threadworms
• Whipworms
• Roundworms
• Hookworms

Pharmacology

Broad-spectrum anthelmintic

Dosage & Administration

• Adult use: Single dose for Threadworms, Twice daily for 3 days for other types
• Child use: Single dose for Threadworms, Twice daily for 3 days for other types

Interaction

• Preliminary evidence: Cimetidine may inhibit Mebrex metabolism

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to Mebendazole or any component of the formulation

Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal: Transient symptoms of abdominal pain and diarrhea
• Hypersensitivity: Rash, urticaria and angioedema
• Central Nervous System: Very rare cases of convulsions
• Haematologic: Neutropenia and agranulocytosis

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy: Not recommended
• Lactation: Caution should be exercised

Precautions & Warnings

• General: Periodic assessment of organ system functions
• Information for Patients: Potential risk to the fetus in women taking Mebrex during pregnancy

Use in Special Populations

Paediatric use not extensively studied in children under two years

Overdose Effects

Gastrointestinal complaints lasting up to a few hours may occur in the event of accidental overdosage
