Description
- Ace is indicated for fever, common cold and influenza, headache, toothache, bodyache, myalgia, dysmenorrhoea, sprains, colic pain, back pain, post-operative pain, inflammatory pain, rheumatic & osteoarthritic pain, and stiffness of joints. It is also indicated for postpartum pain, neuralgia, and post immunization pain in children. Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic properties. Dosage varies for tablet, extended-release tablet, syrup/suspension, suppository, and pediatric drop. It should be kept in a dry place away from light and heat. Ace is contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.

Dosage instructions
- Adult: 1-2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours up to a maximum of 4 gm (8 tablets) daily.
- Children (6-12 years): ½ to 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily.
- Extended Release Tablet: Two tablets every 6 to 8 hours for adults & children over 12 years (maximum of 6 tablets in 24 hours).
- Syrup/Suspension: Dosage varies based on age group.

Interaction
- Diminished metabolism with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol. Chronic ingestion of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives may prevent attainment of therapeutic levels.
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.
Side effects
- Mild side effects, haematological reactions, pancreatitis, skin rashes, allergic reactions.
Pregnancy and lactation
- Epidemiological studies show no ill effects in pregnancy. Excreted in breast milk in clinically insignificant amount.
Precautions and warnings
- Care advised in severe renal or hepatic impairment. Hazard of overdose is greater in non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease. Avoid concurrent use of Ace-containing products.
Overdose effects
- Liver damage possible with large doses. Symptoms include pallor, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain. Immediate treatment necessary.
