Interaction

Diminished ability to metabolize large doses with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol
Increased hepatotoxicity of Cetal overdosage with alcohol
Chronic ingestion of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives may prevent therapeutic Cetal levels

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol

Haematological reactions like thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis
Pancreatitis
Occasional occurrence of skin rashes and allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation

No ill effects reported in human pregnancy with recommended dosage
Excreted in breast milk in not clinically significant amount

Precautions & Warnings

Advised caution in severe renal or severe hepatic impairment
Greater hazard of overdose in non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease
Advice to not exceed the stated dose
Not to be used concurrently with other Cetal-containing products

Overdose Effects

Possible liver damage in adults who have taken 10 g or more of Cetal
Possible liver damage with ingestion of 5 g or more with certain risk factors
Symptoms of Cetal overdose
Immediate treatment essential for Cetal overdose
Use of activated charcoal should be considered within 1 hour of overdose
Measurement of plasma Cetal concentration
Treatment with N-acetylcysteine may be used up to 24 hours after ingestion
