Dosage and administration
- Dosage varies by age and formulation (tablet, extended-release tablet, syrup/suspension, suppository, paediatric drop)
- Maximum daily dose for adults: 4 gm (8 tablets)
- Extended release tablet: Maximum 6 tablets in 24 hours
- Specific dosages for children based on age group
Interaction
- Diminished metabolism with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol
- Increased hepatotoxicity with alcohol
- Chronic ingestion of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives may prevent therapeutic levels
