Interaction
Patients who have taken barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants and alcohol may show diminished ability to metabolize large doses of G-G-Paracetamol. Alcohol can increase the hepatotoxicity of G-G-Paracetamol overdosage. Chronic ingestion of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives induce liver enzymes and may prevent attainment of therapeutic G-G-Paracetamol levels by increasing first-pass metabolism or clearance.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol
Side effects
- Mild side effects
- Haematological reactions including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, and agranulocytosis
- Pancreatitis

Pregnancy and lactation
Epidemiological studies in human pregnancy have shown no ill effects due to Paracetamol used in the recommended dosage. Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk, but not in a clinically significant amount. Available published data do not contraindicate breastfeeding.
Precautions and warnings
Care is advised in the administration of G-G-Paracetamol to patients with severe renal or severe hepatic impairment. The hazard of overdose is greater in those with non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease. Patients should be advised not to take other G-G-Paracetamol-containing products concurrently.
Overdose effects
Liver damage is possible in adults who have taken 10 g or more of G-G-Paracetamol. Ingestion of 5 g or more of G-G-Paracetamol may lead to liver damage. Immediate treatment is essential in the management of G-G-Paracetamol overdose.
