Interaction

  • Diminished metabolism with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol

Overdose effects

  • Liver damage possible with ingestion of 10 g or more
  • Symptoms of overdose in the first 24 hours: pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain
  • Possibility of hepatic failure, acute renal failure, cardiac arrhythmias, pancreatitis
  • Immediate treatment essential
  • Use of activated charcoal and N-acetylcysteine if necessary
