Dosage

Interaction
- Diminished metabolism with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol

- Chronic ingestion of anticonvulsants or oral steroid contraceptives may prevent attainment of therapeutic Neopara levels

Overdose effects
- Liver damage possible with ingestion of 10 g or more
- Symptoms of overdose in the first 24 hours: pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain
- Possibility of hepatic failure, acute renal failure, cardiac arrhythmias, pancreatitis
- Immediate treatment essential
- Use of activated charcoal and N-acetylcysteine if necessary
