Description
- Xcel is indicated for fever, common cold, influenza, headache, toothache, earache, bodyache, myalgia, neuralgia, dysmenorrhoea, sprains, colic pain, back pain, post-operative pain, postpartum pain, inflammatory pain, post vaccination pain, rheumatic & osteoarthritic pain and stiffness of joints.
- Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic properties with weak anti-inflammatory activity. It acts primarily in the CNS, increasing the pain threshold by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes.
- Dosage and administration instructions are provided for tablets, extended-release tablets, syrup/suspension, suppository, and pediatric drop, with specific dosages for different age groups.
- Interactions may occur with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol, affecting the metabolism of Xcel.
- Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.
- Possible side effects are usually mild, including haematological reactions, pancreatitis, skin rashes, and allergic reactions.
- Epidemiological studies have shown no ill effects in human pregnancy when used in recommended dosage. Excreted in breast milk in non-clinically significant amounts.
- Care advised in administration to patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Overdose may lead to liver damage. Storage advice: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat, out of the reach of children.
