Description
Zanthin is a supplement indicated for strong antioxidant properties, improvement of cardiovascular health, immune function, skin condition, protection from sun damage, recovery from nervous system injuries, protection from neurodegenerative diseases, eye health, inflammation reduction, and infertility risk reduction.
DosageAndAdministration
Adults (18 years and older): Daily dose is 4 mg. Should be taken along with or immediately prior to meals in the morning. Dosage ranges from 4 mg to 16 mg for various health benefits.
Pharmacology
Astaxanthin acts as an antioxidant by suppressing singlet oxygen and inhibiting lipid peroxidation, reducing harmful free radicals. It is absorbed by passive diffusion into the intestinal epithelium alongside fatty acids and is incorporated into lipoproteins, transported to the liver, and partly resecreted with lipoproteins.
Interaction
Concomitant intake of Zanthin with Cholestyramine, Colestipol, Mineral oil, or Orlistat may reduce the absorption rate of Zanthin.
Contraindications
Contraindicated for those with known allergies to Astaxanthin.
