Description
- Effective in treating headaches, migraines, toothaches, neuralgia, feverishness, period pain, sore throat, and backache
- Helps reduce temperature and alleviate aches and pains of colds and flu
- Combination of Paracetamol and Caffeine with analgesic, antipyretic, and weak anti-inflammatory properties
- Caffeine increases the solubility and transmembrane permeation of Paracetamol
- Increases pain threshold and tolerance of pain
- Raises vessel tone in the brain, providing benefits for treating migraine and headache
- Adult dose: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours, maximum daily dose: 8 tablets
- Not recommended for children below 12 years
- May reduce serum levels with anticonvulsants like phenytoin, barbiturates, and carbamazepine
- May enhance anticoagulant effect of warfarin and other coumarins with prolonged use
- Accelerated absorption with metoclopramide and domperidone
- May increase serum levels with probenecid and chloramphenicol
- May reduce absorption with colestyramine within 1 hr of administration
- May cause severe hypothermia with phenothiazine
- Contraindicated in severe renal function impairment, hepatic disease (Viral Hepatitis), and known hypersensitivity to paracetamol or caffeine
- Mild side effects of paracetamol with haematological reactions like thrombocytopenia and leukopenia
- Occasional pancreatitis, skin rashes, and allergic reactions
- Pregnant mothers should consult with doctors before taking
- Can be taken while breastfeeding
- Given cautiously in patients with hepatic or renal failure and those taking other hepatotoxic medication
- Prolonged use without consultation should be avoided
- Symptoms of Paracetamol overdose include pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, liver damage, and abnormalities of glucose metabolism and metabolic acidosis
- Therapeutic Class: Non opioid analgesics
