Pharmacology

Combination of Paracetamol and Caffeine with analgesic, antipyretic, and weak anti-inflammatory properties

Dosage & Administration

Adult dose: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. Maximum dose: 8 tablets daily
Child dose: Not recommended for children below 12 years

Interaction

May interact with anticonvulsants, anticoagulants, metoclopramide, domperidone, probenecid, chloramphenicol, and colestyramine

Contraindications

Severe renal function impairment, hepatic disease, known hypersensitivity to paracetamol or caffeine

Side Effects

Mild side effects including haematological reactions, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis, pancreatitis, skin rashes, and allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation

Consultation required during pregnancy, safe for breastfeeding mothers

Precautions & Warnings

Cautious use in hepatic or renal failure patients, those taking other hepatotoxic medication, and avoid prolonged use without consulting a physician

Overdose Effects

Symptoms of Paracetamol overdose include pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, liver damage, abnormalities of glucose metabolism, and metabolic acidosis
