Pharmacology
- Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic properties
- Caffeine increases solubility and transmembrane permeation of Paracetamol
- Caffeine raises vessel tone in the brain
- Caffeine increases pain threshold and tolerance of pain
Dosage administration
- Adult dose: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours
- Maximum adult dose: 8 tablets daily
- Not recommended for children below 12 years
Interaction
- May reduce serum levels with anticonvulsants
- May enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin
- Accelerated absorption with metoclopramide
- May reduce absorption with colestyramine, severe hypothermia with phenothiazine
Contraindications
- Severe renal function impairment
- Hepatic disease (Viral Hepatitis)
- Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol or Caffeine
