Indications
- Treatment of moderate to severe painful conditions
- Postoperative pain
- Colic and spastic pain

Pharmacology
- Centrally acting synthetic analgesic compound
- Inhibits reuptake of neurotransmitters
- Modifies transmission of pain impulses
- Activates descending serotonergic pathways
- Activates noradrenergic pathways
- Mediates analgesic effects via mu-opioid receptors
- Modulates central monoaminergic inhibitory pathways
Dosage & Administration
- Usual doses of 50 to 100 mg every four to six hours
- Initial dose of 100 mg for acute pain
- Initial dose of 50 mg for chronic painful conditions
- Subsequent doses of 50 to 100 mg every 4-6 hours
- Total daily dosage should not exceed 400 mg
- One sustained release capsule every 12 hours
- Injection dose of 50-100 mg every 4 to 6 hours
- Suppository dose of 100 mg every 6 hours
- Maximum suppository dosage for severe pain after operations
Interaction
- No concern about drug interactions except with MAO inhibitors
- Concomitant administration with carbamazepine

- Hypersensitivity to Tramadol
- Acute intoxication with certain substances

Precautions & Warnings

- Use caution in patients with acute abdominal conditions
