Indications
- Moderate to severe painful conditions
- Postoperative pain
- Colic and spastic pain
- Cancer pain

Pharmacology
- Centrally acting synthetic analgesic compound
- Inhibition of serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake
- Activation of descending serotonergic pathways
- Indirect modulation of central monoaminergic inhibitory pathways
- Stimulation of mu-opioid receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Usual doses of 50-100 mg every 4-6 hours
- Initial dose of 100 mg for acute pain
- Initial dose of 50 mg for chronic painful conditions
- Sustained release capsule or tablet every 12 hours
- Injection dose of 50-100 mg every 4-6 hours
- Suppository dose of 100 mg every 6 hours for adults
Interaction
- Contraindicated with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors
- Increased metabolism when concomitantly administered with carbamazepine

- Hypersensitivity to Tramadol
- Acute intoxication with alcohol or certain drugs

Precautions & Warnings
- Respiratory depression risk
- Not recommended for opioid-dependent patients
- Caution with CNS depressants
- Caution with MAO inhibitors
- Caution with increased intracranial pressure or head injury
- Caution with acute abdominal conditions
Use in Special Populations
- Dose of 1-2 mg/kg body weight in children from age 1 year
- Suppository contraindicated in children and adolescents below age 14 years
- Anadol 100 mg SR Capsules not studied in children
