Indications
- Management of moderate to moderately severe pain in adults
- Short-term (five days or less) management of acute pain
Pharmacology
- Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic properties
- Tramadol is a centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours for moderate to moderately severe pain
- Recommended dose is 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours for short-term management of acute pain
- Can be administered without regard to food
Contraindications
- Not to be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to tramadol, paracetamol, or opioids
Side Effects
- Adverse reactions include asthenia, fatigue, dizziness, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, anxiety, insomnia, rash, increased sweating etc.
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
- Not recommended for post-delivery analgesia in nursing mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- May impair mental or physical abilities for potentially hazardous tasks
- Not to be taken with alcohol
- Caution when taking with tranquilizers, hypnotics, or other opiate containing analgesics
Use in Special Populations
- Not studied in pediatric population
- Caution in dose selection for elderly patients
- Not studied in patients with impaired renal function
- Not studied in patients with impaired hepatic function
