Indications
- Acute treatment of migraines with or without aura in adults
Pharmacology
- Therapeutic activity due to agonist effects at the 5-HT1B/1D receptors on intracranial blood vessels and sensory nerves
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended starting dose of 2.5 mg tablet
- Maximum recommended single dose of 5 mg
- Maximum daily dose of 10 mg in any 24-hour period
- Recommended single dose of 5 mg for nasal spray
- Maximum daily nasal spray dose of 10 mg in any 24-hour period
Contraindications
- Ischemic coronary artery disease
- History of stroke
- Concurrent or recent use of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor
- Known hypersensitivity to Zolmitriptan

- Neck/throat/jaw pain or pressure
- Dizziness
- Paresthesia
- Asthenia
- Somnolence
- Warm/cold sensation
- Nausea
- Heaviness sensation
- Dry mouth
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
- Not known whether excreted in human milk
- Decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or the drug, taking into account the drug's importance to the mother
Precautions & Warnings
- Rare reports of serious cardiac adverse reactions, including acute myocardial infarction
- Sensations of tightness, pain, and pressure may occur in the chest, throat, neck, and jaw after treatment

- Not recommended for use in patients under 18 years of age
