Pharmacology
- Inhibits peripheral actions of serotonin and histamine
- Increases membrane permeability of cranial vessels
- Alters pain thresholds in migraines
- Blocks 5-HT receptors
- Attenuates serotonin signaling in cranial vasoconstriction
- Inhibits peripheral actions of bradykinin
- May inhibit serotonin reuptake by blood platelets
Dosage & Administration
- 1.5 mg daily for adults
- Maximum 4.5 mg daily for adults
- Up to 3 mg as a single dose for adults
- Up to 1.5 mg daily for children over 2 years
- Up to 1 mg as a single dose at night for children over 2 years
Interaction
- Enhances central effects of sedatives and hypnotics
- Enhances central effects of antihistamines and alcohol
- Antagonizes hypotensive effect of adrenergic neurone blockers

- Known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients
