Indications
- Relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoidal disorders treatment (e.g. osseous rheumatism, ankylosing spondilitis, juvenile arthritis)
- Acute symptomatic treatment of painful menstruation (primary dysmenorrhoea)
- Symptomatic treatment of common headache and fever
- Treatment of mild to moderate pain (e.g. muscle pain, headache, dental pain)
- Adjuvant with common cold and influenza associated with headache
Pharmacology
- Pharmacologically active enantiomer of racemic ibuprofen
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic action
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Absorption primarily from the small intestine
- Metabolic transformation in the liver
- Complete excretion of metabolites mainly by the kidneys
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage adjusted to seriousness of the syndrome and patient's complaints
- Recommended dosage: 600-900 mg Dexibuprofen per day
- Maximum daily dose: 1200 mg
- Dosage for dysmenorrhea: 600-900 mg per day
Interaction
- Simultaneous use interactions with anticoagulant, hydantoine, sulfonamide, ticlopidine, lithium, other NSAIDs, ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, corticosteroids, digoxin, methotrexate, pentoxyfiline, phenytoine, probenecid, sulfinpyrazon, sulfonylurea, thiazide and thiazide type diuretics, zidovudine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Dexibuprofen or another NSAID
- History of asthma, bronchospasm, acute rhinitis, urticaria, or edema after use of similar drugs
- Active or suspected hemorrhage
- Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
- Serious heart diseases
- Kidney function impairment (GFR < 30ml/min)
- Liver function impairment

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use in Special Populations
- Caution in patients with hepatic, renal, or cardiac insufficiency
- Special consideration for pediatric and elderly patients
Overdose Effects
- Mild symptoms: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, headache, tinnitus, ataxia
- Moderate to serious symptoms: flatulence, hypotension, hypothermia, metabolic acidosis, reduced kidney function, coma, apnoea
