Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses, preferably after food
- Children: 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body wt. daily in divided doses
- Elderly patients: Lowest effective dosage recommended
- Maximum daily dose is 150 mg
Interaction
- Increased plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Increased risk of haemorrhage with the combined use of diclofenac and anticoagulant therapy
- No influence on antidiabetic agents' clinical effect
- Nephrotoxicity with cyclosporin and diclofenac concomitant use
- Serious toxicity when methotrexate and NSAIDs are given within 24 hours of each other
- Convulsions due to interaction between quinolones and NSAIDs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the products
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac like other non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents
- Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings

- Epigastric pain
- Eructation
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Peripheral edema
- Skin reactions such as rash and eczema
- Local irritation and reddening of the skin
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Employed only for compelling reasons during pregnancy
- The lowest effective dose should be used
- Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Insignificant quantity in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation in rare instances of peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Avoid contact with eyes or mucus membranes
- Wash hands after application
