Materials

Dosage & Administration
- Oral Tablet for adults: 75-150 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses, preferably after food
- Suppository for adults: 50 mg 2-3 times daily
- Gel: 2-4 g applied to the skin 3-4 times daily
- Injection: 1-2 ampoules daily
- Capsules: One daily
- Dispersible Tablet for children: 1-3 mg/kg body weight daily
- Dosage to be adjusted for elderly or debilitated patients
Interaction
- Potential interactions with Lithium, Digoxin, Anticoagulants, Antidiabetic agents, Cyclosporin, Methotrexate, Quinolone antimicrobials, Other NSAIDs and steroids
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other NSAIDs
- Asthmatic patients with specific reactions to certain drugs
- Avoid occlusive airtight dressings with Gel
Side Effects
- Mild and rare adverse effects
- Possible gastrointestinal discomfort at start of treatment
- Peripheral edema
- Skin reactions like rash and eczema
- Local skin irritation and reddening with Gel
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy only for compelling reasons
- Lowest effective dose should be used
- Not recommended in first trimester
- Not recommended during lactation due to minimal transfer to breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation in elderly
- Avoid contact with eyes or mucus membranes
- Proper handwashing after Gel application
- Avoid oral ingestion
