Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses, preferably after food
- Children dosage: 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Elderly patients dosage: Lowest effective dosage recommended
- Maximum dosage: 150 mg daily
- Suppository dosage: 50 mg 2-3 times daily
- Gel application: 2-4 g applied to the skin 3-4 times daily
- Capsule dosage: One capsule daily
Interaction
- Increased plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Possible increased risk of hemorrhage with anticoagulant therapy
- No influence on clinical effect of oral antidiabetic agents
- Reported cases of nephrotoxicity with cyclosporin
- Potential serious toxicity when co-administered with methotrexate
- Possible convulsions with quinolone antimicrobials
- Increased frequency of unwanted effects when co-administered with other NSAIDs and steroids
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents
- Contraindicated in asthmatic patients with precipitated attacks by acetylsalicylic acid or other prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors
- Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings

- Close observation for peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
