Indications

Dosage & Administration
- Diclofenac FC Tablet - 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
- Diclofenac SR Tablet - 1 tablet daily for adults
- Diclofenac DT - 2-3 tablets daily for adults
- Diclofenac TR Capsule - One capsule daily
- Diclofenac Suppository - 50 mg suppository 2-3 times daily for adults
- Diclofenac injection - Usual dose is 1 ampoule daily for adults
- Diclofenac Gel - 2-4 g of gel applied 3-4 times daily for external use
Interaction
- May increase plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Increased risk of haemorrhage with anticoagulant therapy
- Can be given together with oral antidiabetic agents
- Cases of nephrotoxicity with cyclosporin
- Caution with concomitant therapy of NSAID and quinolones
- Increased frequency of unwanted effects with co-administration of other NSAIDs and steroids
Contraindications
- Hypersensitive to any ingredient
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac
- Contra-indicated in asthmatic patients with certain reactions triggered by drugs with prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor
Side Effects
- Mild, rare, and transient adverse effects
- Epigastric pain
- Nausea
- Peripheral edema
- Skin reactions such as rash and eczema
- Local irritation and reddening of the skin
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Only for compelling reasons during pregnancy
- Lowest effective dose should be used
- Not recommended during the first trimester
- Not recommended for Diclofenac Sodium Gel during pregnancy
- Insignificant quantity in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation for peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Advanced age patients require close observation
- Avoid contact with eyes or mucus membranes
- Hands should be washed after application
- Not to be taken by mouth
