Pharmacology
- Potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)

Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 75-150 mg daily in 2-3 divided doses
- Reduction of dose in long term use
- Children dosage: 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Diclofenac Dispersible Tablet: Maximum daily dose is 150 mg
- Diclofenac TR Capsule: One capsule daily
- Diclofenac Gel: External use only, 2-4 g applied 3-4 times daily
- Suppository dosage: 50 mg 2-3 times daily
- Injection dosage: 1-2 ampoules daily for serious cases
Interaction
- Potential interactions with lithium, digoxin, anticoagulants, antidiabetic agents, cyclosporin, methotrexate, quinolone antimicrobials, other NSAIDs, and steroids
- Caution with concurrent use of NSAID and quinolones
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ingredients
- Peptic ulcer
- Contra-indicated in asthmatic patients with known adverse reactions to prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor

Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation for peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Elderly patients should be closely monitored
- Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes for the gel
- Proper handwashing after application
- Avoid oral ingestion
