Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult dosage of 75-150 mg daily
  • Dose reduction in long term use
  • 1 tablet daily for Diclofenac SR Tablet
  • 2-3 tablets daily for Diclofenac Dispersible Tablet
  • One capsule daily for Diclofenac TR Capsule
  • External application of 2-4 g Diclofenac Gel 3-4 times daily
  • Different dosages for children and elderly patients

Interaction

  • Potential drug interactions with lithium, digoxin, anticoagulants, antidiabetic agents, cyclosporin, methotrexate, quinolone antimicrobials, other NSAIDs, and steroids
  • Possible influence on anticoagulant effect
  • Risk of nephrotoxicity with cyclosporin and diclofenac concomitantly
  • Potential convulsions with quinolones and NSAIDs

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents
  • Contra-indicated in asthmatic patients
  • Not for use under airtight dressings
