Dosage & Administration

  • Adult dosage 75-150mg daily
  • Divided doses
  • Preferably after food
  • Reduced dosage for long term use
  • Children dosage based on body weight
  • Elderly patients dosage reduction
  • Maximum daily dose 150mg
  • Surface area dependent external gel application
  • Suppository dosage
  • Maximum of 2 ampoules of injection daily

Interaction

  • Increased plasma concentration of lithium and digoxin
  • Risk of hemorrhage with anticoagulants
  • No influence on antidiabetic agents
  • Nephrotoxicity with cyclosporine
  • Toxicity with methotrexate
  • Increased risk of convulsions with quinolones
  • Increased unwanted effects with other NSAIDs and steroids

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any ingredient
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac or other NSAIDs
  • Asthmatic patients with specific reactions to acetylsalicylic acid or prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors
  • Avoid use under occlusive dressings

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Not recommended during lactation due to minimal transfer to breast milk

Precautions & Warnings

  • Close observation for peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Monitoring in advanced age patients
  • Avoid contact with eyes or mucus membranes
  • Avoid oral ingestion
