Indications

  • Relief of Osteoarthritis
  • Relief of Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Relief of Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Relief of acute gouty arthritis
  • Short-term treatment of moderate pain associated with dental surgery

Pharmacology

  • Etoricoxib
  • Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor
  • Inhibition of COX-2 and COX-1
  • Decreased potential for gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity
  • Decreased effects on platelet aggregation

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended doses for different conditions
  • 30 mg once daily for Osteoarthritis
  • 90 mg once daily for Rheumatoid arthritis and Ankylosing spondylitis
  • 120 mg once daily for acute gouty arthritis
  • Additional postoperative analgesia may be required

Interactions

  • Oral anticoagulants
  • Diuretics, ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin II Antagonists
  • Acetylsalicylic Acid
  • Ciclosporin and tacrolimus
  • Lithium

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients
  • Active peptic ulceration or Gl bleeding
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Severe hepatic dysfunction
  • Estimated renal creatinine clearance <30 ml/min
