Indications
- Monotherapy for Parkinson's disease

Pharmacology
- Irreversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase
- Increases extracellular levels of dopamine
- Beneficial effects in dopaminergic motor dysfunction
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose of 1 mg orally once daily
- Initial dose of 0.5 mg once daily for patients taking levodopa
- Consideration of pediatric and geriatric use
Contraindications
- Avoid use with meperidine, tramadol, methadone, propoxyphene, and MAO inhibitors
- Risk of serotonin syndrome
