Indications
- Symptomatic relief of Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Symptomatic relief of Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

Pharmacology
- Potent, orally active cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor
- Inhibits COX-2 within clinical dose range
- Decreases pain, inflammation, and fever
- Decreased potential for GI toxicity and effects on platelet aggregation
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended doses for different conditions
- 30 mg once daily for Osteoarthritis
- 90 mg once daily for Rheumatoid arthritis and Ankylosing spondylitis
- 120 mg once daily for acute gouty arthritis
- 90 mg once daily for postoperative dental surgery pain
Interaction
- Potential interactions with oral anticoagulants
- Potential interactions with diuretics, ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin II Antagonists
- Compatibility with low-dose acetylsalicylic acid for cardiovascular prophylaxis
- Potential interaction with ciclosporin and tacrolimus
- NSAIDs decrease lithium renal excretion
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to active substance or excipients
- Active peptic ulceration or active GI bleeding
- Bronchospasm, acute rhinitis, nasal polyps, or allergic-type reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or NSAIDs
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Severe hepatic dysfunction
- Estimated renal creatinine clearance <30 ml/min
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Congestive heart failure, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases

Precautions & Warnings
- Caution advised with elderly and prior history of gastrointestinal disease
- Careful consideration for patients with significant risk factors for cardiovascular events
- Monitoring of renal function in certain patients
- Caution in patients with cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, or hypertension
- Monitoring of liver function and discontinuation upon hepatic insufficiency or abnormal liver function tests
- Discontinuation upon first appearance of hypersensitivity signs
- Caution when co-administering with warfarin or other oral anticoagulants
Overdose Effects
- Employ usual supportive measures in case of overdose
- No significant toxicity observed with specified doses
