Indications
- Symptomatic relief of Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Symptomatic relief of Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
- Symptomatic relief of Ankylosing spondylitis
- Symptomatic relief of acute gouty arthritis
- Short-term treatment of moderate pain associated with dental surgery
Pharmacology
- Potent, orally active cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor
- Responsible for synthesis of prostanoid mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended doses for different indications
- Shortest duration possible and lowest effective daily dose should be used
Interaction
- Interaction with oral anticoagulants, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, Angiotensin II Antagonists, Acetylsalicylic Acid, Ciclosporin, tacrolimus, Lithium
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance
- Active peptic ulceration or active gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Severe hepatic dysfunction
- Estimated renal creatinine clearance <30 ml/min
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Congestive heart failure
- Hypertension patients with persistently elevated blood pressure

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended in women attempting to conceive
- Not excreted in human milk
- Excreted in the milk of lactating rats
- Women who use Etoricoxib must not breastfeed
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution with treatment of patients at risk of developing gastrointestinal complication with NSAIDs
- Caution with patients with significant risk factors for cardiovascular events
- Monitoring of renal function in patients
- Caution with patients with history of cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, or hypertension
- Monitoring of liver function in patients
- Discontinue at first appearance of skin rash, mucosal lesions, or any other sign of hypersensitivity
- May mask fever and other signs of inflammation
- Caution when co-administering Etoricoxib with warfarin or other oral anticoagulants
Overdose Effects
- No significant toxicity observed with single or multiple doses
- Usual supportive measures in case of overdose
