Pharmacology

High level of anti-inflammatory activity
High level of anti-pyretic activity
High level of analgesic activity
Potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase enzyme
Reduction in prostaglandin synthesis
Inhibition of lipo-oxygenase products synthesis

Dosage & Administration

Oral dosage form for Adults: 400mg 3 times daily
Max daily dosage for Adults: 2400mg
Dosage for Children based on age and body weight
Max daily dosage for Children: 30 mg/kg
Topical gel dosage for Adults: 4 to 10cm on affected area
Max applications for Topical gel: 4 times a day
Use restrictions for Topical gel on certain areas
Use restrictions for Topical gel on children under 12 years

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Ibuprofen
Severe or active peptic ulceration

Increased likelihood of hypersensitivity in systemic lupus erythematosus patients
Prescription caution for patients with asthma
Prescription caution for patients with a history of hypersensitivity to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents
