Description
- Indicated in Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Gouty arthritis, Juvenile polyarthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Synovitis, Low back pain, Dysmenorrhoea, Fever, Migraine, Soft tissue injuries, Pain & Inflammation in dental and musculoskeletal origin
- Contains Ibuprofen with high anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, and analgesic activity
- Dosage form for both adults and children, topical gel for adults only
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Ibuprofen and severe or active peptic ulceration
- Side effects may include upset stomach, vomiting, heartburn, nausea
- Should not be used during pregnancy and for nursing mothers unless the potential benefits to the mothers outweigh the potential risks
- Lowest effective doses should be given in patients with a history of gastrointestinal hemorrhage or ulcer, ocular monitoring required for long-term therapy, caution in patients with asthma or hypersensitivity to other NSAIDs

Pharmacology
- High level of anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, and analgesic activity
- Inhibitor of cyclooxygenase enzyme, reduces prostaglandin synthesis, inhibits lipo-oxygenase products
Dosage & Administration
- Oral dosage form:
- Adults: Dose is initially 400 mg 3 times daily, max. 2400 mg daily
- Children:
- Doses for different age groups based on body weight
- Not recommended for children weighing less than 5 kg
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis: up to 30-40 mg/kg of body weight daily
- Topical gel:
- Adults: Squeeze 4 to 10cm of gel on affected area, not to be repeated more frequently than every four hours and no more than four times a day in any 24 hour period
- Children: Not recommended for use in children under 12 years
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ibuprofen
- Severe or active peptic ulceration
