Indications

Pharmacology
- High level of anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, and analgesic activity
- Potent inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase
- Reduces prostaglandin synthesis
- Inhibits the synthesis of some lipo-oxygenase products
Dosage & Administration
- Oral dosage form for adults: Initially 400 mg 3 times daily, not to exceed 2400 mg daily
- Topical gel for adults: Squeeze 4 to 10cm of gel on affected area, not to be repeated more frequently than every four hours and no more than four times a day in any 24 hour period
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis dosage: up to 30-40 mg/kg of body weight daily in 3-4 divided doses
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ibuprofen
- Severe or active peptic ulceration

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Adverse effects on the developing fetus cannot be fully excluded
- Should not be used during pregnancy and for nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution with a history of gastrointestinal hemorrhage or ulcer
- Ocular monitoring required for patients on long-term therapy
- Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus are more likely to develop hypersensitivity
- Caution in patients with asthma and a history of hypersensitivity to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents
