Pharmacology
- High level of anti-inflammatory activity
- High level of anti-pyretic activity
- High level of analgesic activity
- Inhibition of the enzyme cyclooxygenase
- Reduction in prostaglandin synthesis
- Inhibition of lipo-oxygenase products synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Oral dosage form - Adults: 400 mg 3 times daily
- Oral dosage form - Children:
- Specific doses based on age and body-weight
- Max. 30 mg/kg daily in 3-4 divided doses for ages 3-12 years
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis dosage: Up to 30-40 mg/kg of body weight daily in 3-4 divided doses
- Topical gel dosage - Adults:
- 4 to 10cm squeeze on affected area
- No more than four times a day in any 24 hour period
- Not recommended for children under 12 years
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ibuprofen
- Severe or active peptic ulceration

Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in history of gastrointestinal hemorrhage or ulcer
- Regular ocular monitoring during long-term therapy
- Increased hypersensitivity in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus
- Prescribed with caution in patients with asthma
- Prescribed with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents
