Description
Atova is indicated to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B (Apo-B) and triglycerides levels in various diseases. It is also a selective inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, with pharmacological, dosage, and administration information as well as interactions, contraindications, side effects, and precautions.

Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with maximum plasma concentrations occurring within 1 to 2 hours
Distribution
Mean volume of distribution is approximately 381 liters, with 98% bound to plasma proteins
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized to ortho- and parahydroxylated derivatives and various beta-oxidation products
Excretion
Eliminated primarily in bile following hepatic and/or extra-hepatic metabolism, with a mean plasma elimination half-life of approximately 14 hours
