- E.g. sports injuries
Pharmacology
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Analgesic and antipyretic actions
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Stabilizes lysosomal membranes
- Inhibits leukotriene synthesis
- Antibradykinin activity
DosageAndAdministration
- Applied 2-3 times daily on painful or inflamed area
- Maximum daily dose of 15 grams
- Length of treatment should not exceed one week
- To be massaged onto the skin for a few minutes
Interaction
- Unlikely interaction due to low serum concentrations following topical administration
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Ketoprofen, fenofibrate, tiaprofenic acid, acetylsalicylic acid, or other NSAIDs
- Photosensitivity reactions
- Cutaneous reactions to certain substances
- Pathological skin changes such as eczema or acne
- Infected skin or open wounds
- Sun exposure during treatment and 2 weeks after discontinuation
SideEffects
- Immune system disorders: Anaphylactic shock, angioedema, hypersensitivity reactions
- Gastrointestinal disorders: Nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, flatulence
- Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Erythema, pruritus, photosensitivity reactions, dermatitis bullous, urticaria
- Renal and urinary disorders: Worsening renal insufficiency
PregnancyAndLactation
- Avoid use during the first and second trimester of pregnancy
- Potential fetal toxicity in the third trimester
- Not recommended in nursing mothers
PrecautionsAndWarnings
- Use with caution in patients with reduced heart, liver or renal function
- Avoid use with occlusive dressings
- Avoid contact with mucous membranes of the eyes
- Risk of serious skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
- Protect treated region with clothing when outdoor
- Carry out prolonged hand washing after each use

- Symptomatic and supportive treatment if accidentally ingested
