Indications
- Fever
- Toothache

Pharmacology
- Demonstrated analgesic activity
- Anti-inflammatory activity
- Antipyretic activity
- Dual action on prostaglandins
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthetase
- Antagonizes actions of prostaglandin at receptor sites
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 500 mg three times per day with meals
- Reduced adult dosage: 250 mg three times daily
- Menorrhagia dosage: 500 mg three times daily from the onset of menses
- Children dosage: varies based on age
- Treatment not to be continued for more than 7 days without physician's advice
Interaction
- Concomitant administration of Amifen and Aspirin not recommended
- Potential increased adverse effects with concomitant administration of Amifen and Aspirin
- Inhibition of platelet aggregation with concomitant administration of Amifen and warfarin
- Prolongation of prothrombin time in patients on warfarin therapy with Amifen
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Mefenamic Acid
- Peptic ulcer
- Inflammatory bowel diseases
- Hepatic or renal impairment
- Symptoms of bronchospasm induced by aspirin and/or other NSAID's
- Symptoms of skin rashes induced by aspirin and/or other NSAID's

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safety not established on reproductive capacity and pregnancy
- Use in women of childbearing potential and during pregnancy only when benefits outweigh risks
- Presence in breast milk and transmission to nursing infant
- Should not be taken by nursing mother
Precautions & Warnings
- Administer with caution in allergic diseases
- Administer with caution in asthma
- Withdraw treatment in case of diarrhoea
- Withdraw treatment in case of rashes
- Withdraw treatment in case of cholestatic jaundice
- Withdraw treatment in case of thrombocytopenia
- Withdraw treatment in case of haemolytic anaemia
