Indications

Pharmacology
Dual action on prostaglandins, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic
Dosage & Administration
- Adult:
- 500mg dose up to three times a day with meals
- 250mg dose three times daily in menorrhagia
- Children:
- 5ml 3 times/day (6 months-1 year)
- 10ml 3 times/day (2-4 years)
- 10ml 4 times/day (5-8 years)
- 15ml 4 times/day (9-12 years)
Interaction
- Aspirin: Potential for increased adverse effects
- Warfarin: Inhibition of platelet aggregation, may prolong prothrombin time
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Mefenamic Acid, peptic ulcer, inflammatory bowel diseases, hepatic or renal impairment, bronchospasm, skin rashes from aspirin or other NSAIDs
