Description

Naproxen Enteric Coated Tablet is indicated for the relief of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, juvenile arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, acute gout, and the management of primary dysmenorrhea & pain.

  • Dosage Instructions:
    • 500-1000mg per day for rheumatoid arthritis/osteoarthritis/ankylosing spondylitis
    • 750mg initially for acute gout, then 250mg every 8 hours
    • 500mg initially for dysmenorrhoea, then 250mg at 6-8 hour intervals for up to 5 days
    • For other indications like analgesia and acute musculoskeletal disorders: 500 mg initially, followed by 250 mg at 6-8 hour intervals
  • Indications:
    • Relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, juvenile arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, acute gout
    • Management of primary dysmenorrhea & pain
  • Pharmacology:
    • Blocks COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes leading to decreased prostaglandin synthesis
  • Interactions:
    • ACE inhibitors
    • Antacids & Sucralfate
    • Aspirin
    • Diuretics
    • Methotrexate
    • Warfarin
    • Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI)
  • Contraindications:
    • Known hypersensitivity to Naproxen
    • Asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
    • Perioperative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery
  • Side Effects:
    • Gastrointestinal: Heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia
    • Central Nervous System: Headache, vertigo, drowsiness
    • Dermatological: Pruritus (itching), purpura
    • Cardiovascular: Edema, palpitation
    • Others: Visual disturbances, hearing disturbances
  • Pregnancy & Lactation:
    • Possible adverse effects on fetus
    • May cause delay in parturition
    • Excreted in small amounts in breast milk
  • Precautions & Warnings:
    • Renal effects: Long-term use may result in abnormal renal pathology
    • Hepatic effects: Reports of moderate to severe jaundice
