Indications

Pharmacology
- block COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes
- decreased prostaglandin synthesis
- COX-2 enzyme mediates antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties
- COX-1 enzyme linked to gastrointestinal upset and renal toxicities
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 500-1000 mg per day
- Children dosage: based on weight and condition
- Oral preparations to be taken with water after meals
- Gel application 2-6 times a day as required

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Naproxen
- Asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Post CABG surgery
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal: heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia
- Central Nervous System: headache, vertigo, drowsiness
- Dermatological: pruritus, purpura
- Cardiovascular: edema, palpitation
- Others: visual disturbances, hearing disturbances
Pregnancy & Lactation
- May have adverse effects on the fetus
- Causes delay in parturition
- Excreted in small amounts in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Renal effects: renal papillary necrosis, interstitial nephritis, hematuria, proteinuria
- Hepatic effects: moderate to severe jaundice
- Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function
