Description
Naproxen & Esomeprazole is indicated for the relief of signs & symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and to decrease the risk of developing gastric ulcers. It consists of an immediate release Esomeprazole Magnesium layer & an enteric-coated Naproxen core where Esomeprazole is released first into the stomach. Dosage should be carefully considered and the tablet should not be split, chewed, crushed, or dissolved. There are important interactions with other medicines and food that should be noted. It is contraindicated in certain situations and has various side effects. Additionally, there are precautions and warnings, and specific considerations for use in special populations like elderly patients and those with renal or hepatic impairment. It should be stored at a temperature below 30°C, protected from light & moisture, and kept out of reach of children.

- Dosage:
- Use lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual patient treatment goals
- Adults: One tablet twice daily of either: 375 mg naproxen/20 mg of esomeprazole; or 500 mg naproxen/20 mg of esomeprazole
- Adolescent Patients 12 Years of Age & Older: Depends on weight and dose
- Administration:
- Take at least 30 minutes before meals
- Do not split, chew, crush, or dissolve the tablet
- Interaction:
- Concurrent use of NSAIDs may reduce the antihypertensive effect of ACE inhibitors, diuretics & beta-blockers
- Concurrent use with warfarin may result in increased risk of bleeding complication
- Esomeprazole may interfere with the absorption of certain drugs
- Administration with high-fat food may affect absorption of naproxen
- Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to any component
- History of asthmay urticaria or other allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Use during the peri-operative period in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery
- Side Effects:

- Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular effects

- Increased risk of arterial thrombotic events
- Pregnancy & Lactation:
- Not recommended during third trimester of pregnancy
